A Fun Hendi Inspired Cake....

Today I had the opportunity to create a cake using one of my best strengths....PIPING!!!...I love to pipe on cakes, I just light up like a kid when the customer wants piping on their cakes...LOL...

    When the couple first approched me with their design, they told me I dont have to exactly match their design (which was pretty basic) to a "T" to just have fun with it. So I did just that...

Even though it looks like hours of work, it actually only took me one hour to do. They decided to have Red Velvet cake inside since red was one of their colors as well. All in all i turned out beautiful once it was all put together....
When I posted it on my facebook page one of the responces was "this is so pretty it should be in a magazine"......That would be nice!!...LOL

Another Live Cake Challenge

Well me and my assistant Temeka Johnson had the opportunity to compete in yet another live Cake Challenge on February 5th, 2011 at the Garden State Cake Show. I was contacted by one of the representatives, asking me would I be interested in competing in the challenge, so you know me (for those that do!! LOL..) I was all in. I was given the theme that we had to represent in cake which it was "A Child's Dream/Wish"....sooooo I was like hmmmmmm....what to do?
           After one week of deciding, I came up with my representation of the theme of a child's wish and did "Police Officer"...I was at first all over the place as to what I wanted to...LOL....Now that I had in mind what I wanted to create, I had to inform my assistant of the idea and she loved it. Our design consisted of a kid friendly Cop Car with a huge Donut on top, then with the superhero badge standing at he top.
            Day of competition came and I was ready like Freddie..LOL..(who's Freddie you ask?? I have no idea..LOL). I arrived in New Jersey where the show took place and where I was to meet Temeka. Well me and her hooked up to go over all the logistics as to what was going to be done and how we were going to execute our design and well.
            The clock starts and it's "Game Time"...we go all in!! The cake was being put together very well, all things were going as planned....but when do you know anything to stay on track when your competing...something always go wrong!!..LOL...I will get to that later.. The judges were walking around taking a look at all 4 cakes and artists that were competing, getting a eye for to see who has what it takes to when the prize...We didnt win, but I will say we gave the winner a "Run for their money"..LOL...The judges even allowed the audience to walk the stage and take a close look at the entries, but they just werent able to talk to us...You know me and my big mouth, I started talking to them anyway...LOL... They all "LOVED" my cake and the Child's wish/ Dream that I have choosen...They just kept taking so many pictures...
              Remeber earlier when I said "something always go wrong"...well the superhero badge that I wanted to add to the top, stupid me!! He wasn't dry enough to stand alone so points were lost there.....
    Well all in all, me and my girl had a FAB time, and will compete again ANYTIME, ANYPLACE!!!!.....Maybe next time I will get to compete again on National TV!!!!

WE WILL SEE!!!!!! LOL....... 

Handbags, Shoes and Fashion....can you say Fasionista!!!!! we make a lot of fashion cakes here at Cakes by Cynthia everyweek there is at least 4...Where did the trend start?

We Tv Wedding Cake Wars

Here is a picture of the cake we made for We Tv Wedding Cake Wars. Me and my partner Teresa Turnage made a cake inspired by (obvious) Las Vegas along with 11 other competitors competing for the best wedding cake. I didnt place in top 3 but hey I got a photo opt on Wetv.com featuring my cake (1 of 4) as the advertising ad....

Going into the competition, wasnt thinking if I won. I was thinking Hey I might get some exposure from this...and it worked.

National Area Cake Show 2010 in Virginia

Here is the cake that was made for a cake competition in Virginia in March. I didnt place in the top 10, but that wont stop me until I bring home the gold. Next stop Great American Cake Show where I also will competiting in a live Competition with Ruth Rickey....... It is so on like "POPCORN"  LOL..
